How To Spot A Fake Handbag

Designer handbags really aren’t cheap, in fact they can be extremely expensive, and thus many of us get drawn into buying something which is almost certainly a fake. The reality is that if the price looks too good to be true, you’re probably buying a fake. Here are a few quick tips to make sure you aren’t wasting your money on a complete knock-off.

1.    Look at the labelling – Examine the product fully before you buy and look at all the labels and tags which you can find. If there are any misspellings or if the labels aren’t stitched into the product, you should probably avoid it. The labels on real products are always of high quality, and will be clear and easy to read, with many having unique product numbers on them, fakes on the other hand will be hastily made and may be just hanging off the product.

2.    Check the stitching – A high quality and authentic product will have extremely complex stitching, which will survive a large amount of wear. Fakes on the other hand are often hastily stitched and will have very simple stitching patterns aimed at just making sure the bag sticks together.

3.    Check the packaging – When you buy a luxury product, you can expect the packaging to be top –notch. Luxury fashion houses are dedicated to customer service and will want to make you feel proud to walk around with your brand new bag. Thus, they will ensure that the packaging is of high quality and well branded. Many high priced items will be boxed or come in very durable bags, and will almost certainly never be sold in a plastic bag.

4.    Check the intricate details – The people who produce fakes really couldn’t care less about the very minor details in each bag. This is fair enough since most people couldn’t tell the difference, but if you take your time to examine your new handbag, you may find subtle details which will surprise you. Things like poorly measured straps or uneven logos can alert you to your bag being a fake, so make sure to take your time when analysing the details.
